A Brief History of NMC The initial incarnation of NMC was started sometime around the middle of 2001 by a handful of composers and improvisors who gathered informally on a weekly basis to share ideas about music and play together. The group's first public performance was of Cornelius Cardew's "Treatise" along with a structured improvisation. The performance was a huge success. Today, the Co-op meets regularly and presents two large performances per year as well as a variety of other activities such house concerts and workshops.
